I am not familiar with installing one of those.....does that one replace the carrier or just the spider gears inside the carrier?

If he has a LSD it is the entire carrier. If you are just putting in the "luchbox" locker as they call it, pretty straight forward. Take out the carrier, unbolt the halves, replace the spider gears, and reassemble. Just make sure you have a way to re-set the backlash. The correct way is to use a dial indicator to check the specific amount, which should be .006-.008 for a H233B. A lot of people try to feel it out, but I would find an indicator to make sure it's right. Also, when you are setting the backlash, put as much torque as possible on the side opposite the pinion gear to help combat the pressures of the pinion trying to push the ring gear away. Any other help we can get you, let us know.

A Detroit Locker replaces the carrier completely. The Detroit No-Spin is the lunch box and that hasn't been available for years. Though there are rumours you can get it in Australia.
